All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my Mother

About

My husband and I have been blessed with two beautiful children, a four and a half year old son and a two year old daughter. Our family lives in White Rock, British Columbia. I left my career three years ago to become a Stay at Home Mom. It was a financial struggle for us in the beginning, but together we created a new plan that helped us overcome that barrier.

I write a syndicated Column featured in the Peace Arch News and the Surrey Leader, called "Mom at Home". I discuss the ups and downs of being a Stay at Home Mom and address issues that all mothers can relate to; such as toilet training a toddler, choosing the right pre school, and losing weight after giving birth. I want to take the fear out of being a Stay at Home Mom for women and dispel such myths as "your brain will turn to mush" or that you will no longer be able to relate to people in the "real" world.

My educational background includes a degree in English and Communications from Simon Fraser University in 1995 and a Journalism Certificate from Langara College in 1998.

My career has encompassed a variety of professions ranging from an insurance career as a Commercial Underwriter, Commercial Broker and Account Manager; to a writing career which includes working as a Communications Coordinator for a large education company, a Reporter for Associated Press at the APEC summit (I was in the traveling pool for President Clinton), a Researcher for the BC Press Council, and an Opinion Columnist for Black Press.

But the best and most rewarding career I have ever experienced is being a Stay at Home Mom for my children - bar none.
