Ok - I can't be the only one out here with children wondering what the heck happened to the one litre boxes of Sune-Rype boxes.

It has been more than a month of searching every single grocery store for apple juice and settling for the small, single boxes with straws to pacify both my children's craving for apple juice. So the big question is.........what the heck is going on here?...

A recent article in the Vancouver Sun, was the eye opener that I needed about what is going on with Sun Rype in Canada. After an end to a bitter 16 week strike at their main plant in Kelowna, the future of the production plant still remains unclear.

Somehow, during this strike, Sun-Rype decided to change the boxes that we have grown accustomed to. We will no longer see the one litre boxes, but rather a new resealable plastic bottle that is 1.36 litres instead. The company says they are going to bigger bottles because the one litre was just not enough for families.

But here is the thing: I got their new bottle today - at $3.00 for 1.36 litres. Ok - but I used to be able to get one litre for $1.50 ...meaning I could get 2 litres for $3.00.

Their recent statement is this "Our intent is to offer one-litre pak boxes again - but only based on consumer and customer requests".

Ok- so let's get this straight. They have put this out there, hoping that the majority of us (who use the apple juice boxes) will just lump it. I say, let's not lump it, but rather tell them what we really think...and that is....bring back the boxes at the same prices we used to pay!

Obviously with their strike of 16 weeks, they are looking to recoup their dollars somewhere - let it not be with the consumer!
