Gas Prices

Well it looks like we have finally hit the 1.50 range for gas per litre, and there is no slowing down in sight. One economist has predicted us to be at over 2.00 per litre by the end of the summer - unbelievable.
I can remember it was only five or six years ago when the gas wars were on and we could get gas for as low as .39 cents per litre. So things like camping, RVing and boating - things that usually shouldn't make for an expensive vacation are now looked at as a luxury vacation for the family - and commuting? Well....now that seems to be even more daunting...
We live close to the border, and with the Canadian dollar at par with the US and their gas prices equating to 1.00 per litre - it makes more sense to fill up in the US (however the border line-ups tend to be a deterrent). There is always the NEXUS pass which is about $55 for five years. It may be a worthwhile investment in the wake of gas prices so high.
In India, there has been a huge announcement that they have developed the world's first air powered car - and no, you didn't read that incorrectly. The car has zero emissions and is run entirely on compressed air. To read more about this revolutionary car - click here at the Popular Mechanics Website
It should cost around $2.00 to fill the car’s carbon-fiber tanks with 340 liters of air. Drivers also will be able to plug into the electrical grid and use the car’s built-in compressor to refill the tanks in about 4 hours.
But it is guessed that this car will never make it to North America (apparently due to its construction) however, if the technology is already there - we could have a car developed here in North America in no time - but then who would profit? Only us - and that's not how the oil companies want it.
So what are you and your family doing this summer to combat the rising cost of gas?
