Never Enough Time
There never seems to be enough time in the day to get to all the "stuff" done that I want to do. It gets to be frustrating when my "to do" list keeps getting things added on - and there's not a lot coming off! And its not just the housework that gets set aside when the children need me - but other things - important things - like my health.
It became very evident this past week when I needed an eye examine (one that I have been putting off for some time) and when I did finally get there - I wasn't ready to hear what the optometrist had to say...
Apparently I have been negligent with my contacts. I haven't been taking them out as often as I need to and changing them often enough. She found some minor abbrasions on my eyes (which happen when the eye does not receive the proper oxgyen it needs) So as a result, I was sent home with sterile eye drops and ordered off contacts for a month. Brutal.
When you are a teenager or even in your early 20s - it doesn't seem like any of the things you do, will ever really impact you. I used to laugh it off and not take it too seriously. However, I have to admit, the eye doctor scared me - and it became clear - that I need to be looking after myself a lot more than I do, for the sake of my children, and for me.
So I quickly set up appointments this week for an annual physical, dentist appointment and allergist (I'm deathly allergic to bee stings). I scheduled myself in to the calendar and have vowed that no matter how much time I think is lacking in my life - my health is always going to be a priority from here on in.
As I said jokingly to my husband - If I don't attend to all these small things right now with my health - you may end up married to a blind, toothless woman who one day wanders in to a bee's hive she couldn't see.....:)
