The Stay at Home Mother

The other day I was in Vancouver with my children to take my daughter to a doctor's appointment. As we were coming out of the office, I saw a woman walk by with a beautiful, long coat and leather boots. And as I looked down at my own t-shirt, capri pants and flip-flops, I realized that summer was truly over and I needed to come to terms with the changing seasons.

I guess I was hoping that the summer weather (that we never truly got) was going to be arriving late in September - but alas - the crispness in the air can truly be felt. It's time to haul the fall attire out of the garage and say goodbye to the summer that never was....

However, I do have some good news to share with you. I came across a woman who is absolutely amazing and thought I would tell you a bit about her. Her name is Jhet Torcelino van Ruyven - and she is an international best selling author of the book: The Tale of Juliet - You have the Power to Change Your Life!". Her book won Honorable Mention for Best Non-Fiction Book in Western Canada in 2006.

Right now she is working on a project called the One Special Day Event being held online on September 25th. All the proceeds from her book is being donated to building a new village in the Phillipines for families. Her book, which is based on her own life story, is one of courage, determination and willingness to believe in herself no matter what the odds. A remarkable woman, with a remarkable story that we all can learn from. It's definately worth checking out and supporting this wonderful Event that can help so many families.

I also wanted to share with moms more info about my Opportunities Page on this website. Now I don't know how many of you have checked it out - but it is there as a way to reach moms who are looking for ways they can be at home if they haven't thought of a home-based business that appeals to them.

Currently there is a mom selling her business on the Opportunities Page. It's her own business and she has owned it since 1999 and been very successful with it for many years. However, she is moving to another Country in the next few months, and needs to sell it. And she wants the person who buys her business to be able to give it all the love and attention it deserves.

As well there is a couple of businesses that are advertising that will allow moms to be more in control of their own hours and make as much or as little money that they need. A great little side business that is flexible to a mom's schedule.

And lastly - Survior Bootcamp is also on the site promoting a healthy lifestyle for moms by offering a free weekly class to women only. I am still part of the Bootcamp and have been doing it now for almost two months....I love it.

I actually have muscles now and a six-pack stomach - I'm not kidding. Even when I was in my twenties, I never had a six-pack stomach and defined muscles in my arms. There's something very empowering about it. :)

I'm spending the rest of the day today with my son collecting leaves that have fallen from the trees in the park for his scrapbook - yep, just one more sign that fall is truly here!
