Tree Time

Xmas treeToday was a fantastic day - as I was able to catch up on my sleep last night (still don't have a voice) but feel stronger today for sure. And yesterday my husband sent me flowers to cheer me up...awwwww.....he's so thoughtful.

And this morning - we went to pick out a Christmas tree. That's one of my favourite parts of Christmas. We all pile in to the car and sing Christmas songs all the way to the Tree Yard, which is about twenty minutes away from us. Of course, after twenty minutes of driving, usually I'm the only one left singing in the car....

But I want this to be a special memory for the children that makes it stand out in their minds. I want them to look back on the annual tradition of picking out a Christmas tree with fond memories. Santa is usually there to pass out candy canes to the kids as we all walk around the tree yard looking for the perfect Christmas tree.

This year, we agreed on a tree quite quickly (usually it takes us about a half hour to agree on the best one). My husband tells me that I pick out trees that are too big, and I tell him that he picks out ones that are too small...and so on and so forth until we find one somewhere in between. But this year we spotted a tree at the same time that we both thought was perfect.

So we hitched it on to the roof and tied it down after paying for it and making a donation. I can hardly wait to get it in to the house to decorate. Nothing compares to the fresh smell of a real Christmas tree...now the trick is....to keep it smelling that way until Christmas!....;)
