What Christmas Means to Me...

TreeWe have worked very hard to have Christmas be more than just about the opening of presents for our children.

This week, I thought it would be fun to have an article written almost entirely by my five -year old son and what Christmas means to him.

The article is going to be published in its entirety this Sunday in Black Press newspapers, however, I am posting some of his random, but very meaningful thoughts in this blog to share with you....

Here are his thoughts about Christmas (in his own words):

  • Christams is special because all the houseses have lights on them.
  • Chrismas is also about Jesus. He was the first baby that everyone liked. Jesus was born in his mom’s tummy – and he was very special. When baby Jesus growed up he became a great leader to everyone.
  • Santa is really special. I’m lucky when Santa comes and what presents he brings. I am thankful for my family because I love them. I like my sister because I love her so much. I never wish I had a brother instead because she is so nice to me. And I like it when I can play with her.
  • I like my house because it has special furniture, toys, and my bedroom that I love to sleep in. Our house is fun to play in. I like the kitchen too.
  • It makes me sad when I see kids who have no money or food. They think that no one cares about them – but I do.
  • Christmas is about people ringing bells for money that remind us to share what we have.
  • My Christmas wish is I wish that Jack was still alive (our cat who had to be put down)
  • I love Boo boo (our cat now) because he loves me because I always pet him and he purrrrs.
  • All around the world everyone is nice to everyone and it makes me feel happy and warm inside.

I was really impressed with this thoughts on Christmas and his ability to think beyond Santa Claus.

I hope you are enjoying this wonderful, magical time with your children.
