Making it Count
So this year I decided to start the New Year off right with a dip in the ocean on New Year's Day (aka "The Polar Bear" swim) in White Rock with my children.
Yes, it was cold and yes, it was a terribley windy and stormy day, but it felt amazing.
Why? Because it was a great way to start off the new year - by simply doing it, instead of talking about it..........
So many of us want to do things in our lives differently - we want to change, but somehow get stuck in the "idea" phase. New Year's resolutions come and go, and yet, albeit a few glorious days when we first start, nothing ever seems to come of it.
So with the Polar Bear swim, I have symbolized the "jumping in" with a sink or swim mentality. Sometimes we can think things through until we are blue in the face and nothing happens. Sometimes we just need to jump and see where life takes us.
It's scary and uncomfortable, but the greater the risk - the greater the reward.
So instead of talking about doing something or wishing for the right time - just jump and see where life will take you next.
Regret is a terrible thing to have in our lives and I never want to live my life with regret. I want to have one heck of a story to tell my grand-children!
So what's your greatest ambition this year? Make this the year that you spend doing it instead of just dreaming about it. And simply, JUMP!
