Valentine's Day
This weekend is Valentine's Day - and with it comes a whole lot of pressure. ...particularly for men. ;)
I have to admit - although I try hard not to celebrate the day (as my husband and I celebrate our anniversary the next day on the 15th - this year is our 13th wedding anniversary) I am a romantic at heart.
So to completely ignore the day would be extremely difficult . And that's why this year, I decided to really make a big splash with it and have been planning a HUGE Valentine's Day party for kids and adults alike for the past few weeks....
That's right - I've attempted what many would deem impossible. On one side of the house, I have created an oasis, if you will, for adults. Complete with champagne, appies and adult socializing.
On the other side of the house, I have created a fun-zone for kids, including a clown for entertainment and games galore.
That way, the kids are entertained, and so are the parents.
I love creating parties - infact, I once thought about becoming a party planner - but then I realized that I really only like creating parties for me and my family! ;)
I'm not entirely sure how well it will go as we have more than 20 adults and 20 children attending - so its going to be a packed house! It works beautifully in my head, but I'm not sure as to the reality of it.
The point of celebrating the day is that although it is a day that is overly-hyped and a cash-in for merchants; its also a day that is meant to reflect on the ones we cherish most in our lives.
It's a time to be spontaneous - be outrageous, and over the top. It's a day to tell those who mean the most to you whether its a friend, a spouse, parents or our children.
It's a day to make others in our lives feel special.
And that's what makes me love the day so much - because of being able to make those around me know how much they mean to me.
Here's hoping you have a special Valentine's Day and that you are with those you love most - and have told them so!
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
