When they asked the little girl where her home was she replied - Where mother is

When is enough - Enough?

Breast FeedingI recently had to begin the weaning process with my daughter. It was a tough decision for me, but she is one year now and on solids, with plenty of nutrition. In addition, her feedings have dwindled down to only a couple a night. So after speaking with my pediatrician, I was advised that yes, my breastfeeding had become nothing more than a pacifier for my daughter. I wasn't producing very much milk anymore, but had kept the feedings going as I was not bothered by it, and my daughter seemed to still enjoy the bonding.

However, after giving it more thought , I realized that it was time to let go (and finally get a good night's sleep!) and move on to the next stage with her. It's a hard decision. I recently wrote my latest article in Black Press on my experience with my transition with my daughter. I received one angry email from an older woman who was not happy at all with my opinion on weaning my daughter. According to her, I should should have "stuck it out" for as long as my daughter had wanted me to - after all, I was still producing milk.....

It's a delicate and very personal subject to every mom who has to make that decision for herself and for her baby. I've uploaded my recent article under my "Archives" section titled "Breaking the Habit". I invite you to read it and let me know your opinion on breastfeeding and what your experience has been with it. When you breast feed - when is enough - Enough?

I just blogged about this subject a couple of days ago, because my doctor told me that I should wean my son at 1 year (he's only 6 months now). I disagree with him. Everything I have read and almost everyone around me during this first attempt at motherhood has encouraged me to continue as long as he wants to breastfeed. That feels right to me. I'm not saying that anyone is wrong for making a different choice - I completely understand that raising a child is full of very personal decisions. Having said all this, it might be a moot point - Nicholas might decide to wean himself at 9 months ... we'll just have to wait and see and make decisions as we go. I appreciate hearing other people's opinions, though.
